Supporting People Living With Special Needs and Disabilities ~ Connecting people, Changing lives…

ASNA at Parellel London: 2016

Wow, what a great experience, everyone, everywhere had a chance to share in a truly unique experience. 'What a lovely atmosphere'. The words of one of the parents who ran the 10km with her son. She wasn't sure he would make the 10KM but he did and so did she. The innovative Super Sensory 1km run /walk /push was engaging and stimulating. There was a sensory experience at every 100m point giving the participants an interactive stop as they travelled the track. Sensory experiences included bright red helium foil balloons for visual stimuli, loud tambourines and 'boom wackers' for auditory experiences, eucalyptus smelling pots for olfactory and massage devices for tactile experiences. It was great to see so many participants enjoy this part of the day. It was creative and well thought through for people with profound and severe learning disabilities to enjoy and achieve the run and be a part of the day. Well done to the organisers and to the creator of the Super Sensory 1km run.
