Young Carers break!

Its Carers week! 7-12 June 2022

Carers week 2022 is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

The campaign is brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to provide support for carers, run activities, highlight the vital role carers play in our communities and draw attention to just how important caring is.

ASNA is no exception. In 2005 we launched and hosted our first SYCAF activity week- Siblings, Young Cares And Friends - An action packed week for siblings of children with disabilities and young carers with parents or a relative with a disability, ill health or other caring responsibility.

Young Carers attend with a friend of their choice. This week long retreat for young carers will take place this year 1-5 August 2022. See the poster for further details.

Young carers (someone aged 25 or under who cares for a friend or family member who cannot cope without their support) might carry out practical tasks, like cooking, housework, and shopping. They may also provide physical care, emotional support, and day-to-day personal care.

Young carers could be managing the family budget and collecting prescriptions, helping someone communicate or take medicine. Often young carers will help by looking after brothers and sisters.

Young Carers need a break! If you know someone who is a Young Carer or if you are a guardian of a young person with caring responsibilities, this event is for you.

Follow this link to register to attend or email info@asna.info for more details.

Happy Carers week '22!
